Protein Expression & Purification Facility

Introduction

The Protein Expression and Purification Facility was established in fall 2009 to help researchers at Helmholtz Zentrum München to quicker and better produce recombinant proteins. To achieve this goal the PEPF will provide support and training, materials and facilities for the cultivation of bacteria and insect cells and for the purification and biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins.

The PEPF will also produce recombinant proteins for general use (i.e. proteases and polymerases) and, in collaboration with individual researchers, specific proteins for a wide range of applications, including structural and functional studies, small ligand screening and antibody production.
